Peter the Venerable had recounted in 1142 ( J.P.Migne (ed.) Patrologia Latina (1844-64) Vol. 189, Col.671; "I therefore approached specialists in the Arabic language, from which comes the deadly poison which has infected half the world, and I persuaded them - by pleas and by offering payment - to translate from Arabic into Latin the origin, life and laws of that damned soul (Muhammad) which is called the Koran ... in order that the translation should be completely accurate, and in order that no detail should escape us through the deceit, I added a Saracen to the team of Christian translators". It is mentioned in the History in Quotations by M.J. Cohen and John Major that the great abbey of Cluny in Burgundy (1122-56) visited Cluniac monastries in Spain and took drastic action to draw the poison. .

I have also come across an interesting comparison by Winston Churchill to Koran. It comes on p. 50 of From War to War, the first part of the first volume of his 6-part Second World War. Chapter 4 deals with Adolf Hitler, including a close look at Mein Kampf, which Churchill called "the new Koran of faith and war: turgid, verbose, shapeless, but pregnant with its message."

And in his book The River War, Churchill commented on Muslims thus. How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity.

The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property - either as a child, a wife, or a concubine - must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities.

Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen; all know how to die; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science - the science against which it had vainly struggled - the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.

Confusion in Islam was illustrated when Pakistan's first foreign minister, Zafarullah Khan -- an Ahmadiya -- refused to perform the prayers at the funeral of the country's founder, Mohammed Ali Jinnah, saying, 'Either I am a non-Muslim in a Muslim state or I am a Muslim in a non-Muslim country'.

At the beginning of this Century a Government Minister of Netherlands, had branded Koran a 'fascist book' in the vein of Adolf Hitler's 'Mien Kampf' which legitimizes violence. Geert Wilders had said: "Ban this wretched book just like 'Mien Kampf' is banned. Send a signal ... to Islamists that the Koran can never, ever be used in our country as an excuse or inspiration for violence.                                                                                                                                                            "As agreed even by most Islamic scholars, the Koran was put together in the current format at least one hundred years after the death of Prophet Mohammed. It is said that when the Prophet made "revelations", notes were taken in leaves and other material. Given the level of the ignorance exhibited by the Arabic tribes at that time it is highly unlikely that they could really appreciate any "revelations" or distinguish "real" ones. Even then, here is an open question: How complete, accurate or well-preserved were these "notes" for over one hundred years?

An Egyptian Islamist, Dr. Tareq Hilmi, opened his October 2003 article entitled "America that We Hate," with the statement: "We worship Allah by hatred of America."

These comments and a study of the Quran make it obvious that there is an urgent necessity to remove or at least make some verses of Quran optional. Fortunately such an opportunity is provided by the Sura 7 Verse 89 that stated: "And it is not for us to return to the old religion unless Allâh, our Lord, should will. Our Lord comprehends all things in His Knowledge. In Allâh (Alone) we put our trust. Our Lord! Judge between us and our people in truth, for You are the Best of those who give judgment."

Then let us say Allah, to begin with, wills now to make the following verses from Surah 2 optional.

SURAH 2        Al-Baqara

23. And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (i.e. the Qur'ân) to Our slave (Muhammad Peace be upon him), then produce a Sûrah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allâh, if you are truthful. 24. But if you do it not, and you can never do it, then fear the Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.

39. But those who disbelieve and belie Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) such are the dwellers of the Fire, they shall abide therein forever.

57. And We shaded you with clouds and sent down on you Al-Manna and the quails, (saying): "Eat of the good lawful things We have provided for you," (but they rebelled). And they did not wrong Us but they wronged themselves.

85. After this, it is you who kill one another and drive out a party of you from their homes, assist (their enemies) against them, in sin and transgression. And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, although their expulsion was forbidden to you. Then do you believe in a part of the Scripture and reject the rest? Then what is the recompense of those who do so among you, except disgrace in the life of this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they shall be consigned to the most grievous torment. And Allâh is not unaware of what you do.

88. And they say, "Our hearts are wrapped (i.e. do not hear or understand Allâh's Word)." Nay, Allâh has cursed them for their disbelief, so little is that which they believe.

126. And (remember) when Ibrâhim (Abraham) said, "My Lord, make this city (Makkah) a place of security and provide its people with fruits, such of them as believe in Allâh and the Last Day." He (Allâh) answered: "As for him who disbelieves, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the torment of the Fire, and worst indeed is that destination!"

161. Verily, those who disbelieve, and die while they are disbelievers, it is they on whom is the Curse of Allâh and of the angels and of mankind, combined. 162. They will abide therein (under the curse in Hell), their punishment will neither be lightened, nor will they be reprieved.

191. And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah is worse than killing. And fight not with them at Al-Masjid-al-Harâm (the sanctuary at Makkah), unless they (first) fight you there. But if they attack you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.

193. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allâh) and (all and every kind of) worship is for Allâh (Alone). But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zâlimûn (the polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.)

216. Jihâd (holy fighting in Allâh's Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allâh knows but you do not know.

221. And do not marry Al-Mushrikât (idolatresses, etc.) till they believe (worship Allâh Alone). And indeed a slave woman who believes is better than a (free) Mushrikah (idolatress, etc.), even though she pleases you. And give not (your daughters) in marriage to Al-Mushrikûn till they believe (in Allâh Alone) and verily, a believing slave is better than a (free) Mushrik (idolater, etc.), even though he pleases you. Those (Al-Mushrikûn) invite you to the Fire, but Allâh invites (you) to Paradise and Forgiveness by His Leave, and makes His Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to mankind that they may remember.

244. And fight in the Way of Allâh and know that Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

282. O ye who believe! When ye deal with each other, in transactions involving future obligations in a fixed period of time, reduce them to writing Let a scribe write down faithfully as between the parties: let not the scribe refuse to write: as Allah Has taught him, so let him write. Let him who incurs the liability dictate, but let him fear His Lord Allah, and not diminish aught of what he owes. If they party liable is mentally deficient, or weak, or unable Himself to dictate, Let his guardian dictate faithfully, and get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as ye choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her....

Surely all the secularist Muslims will agree!
