Jiddu Krishnamurti's Concept of Enacting Positive Change in the Society

Col. (Ret'd) Mahendra Mathur

Jiddu Krishnamurty was a writer and speaker on philosophical and spiritual subjects. His subject matter included: psychological revolution, the nature of the mind, meditation, human relationships, and how to enact positive change in society. He constantly stressed the need for a revolution in the psyche of every human being.

Krishnamurti was born into a Telegu Brahmin family on May 12, 1895. In early adolescence, he had a chance encounter with prominent occultist and high-ranking theosophist on the grounds of the Theosophical Society Headquarters at Adyar in Madras (now Chennai). He was subsequently raised under the tutelage of Annie Besant and C.W. Leadbeater, leaders of the Society at the time, who believed him to be a "vehicle" for an expected World Teacher. As a young man, he disavowed this idea and dissolved the worldwide organization (the Order of the Star) established to support it. He claimed allegiance to no nationality, caste, religion, or philosophy, and spent the rest of his life traveling the world as an individual speaker, speaking to large and small groups, as well as with interested individuals.  At age 90, he addressed the United Nations on the subject of peace and awareness, and was awarded the 1984 UN Peace Medal. His last public talk was in Madras, India, in January 1986, a month before his death at home in Ojai California.

Education

Krishnamurti founded several schools around the world. When asked he enumerated the following as his educational aims:

1. Global outlook: A vision of the whole as distinct from the part; there should never be a sectarian outlook, but always a holistic outlook free from all prejudice.

2. Concern for man and the environment: Humanity is part of nature, and if nature is not cared for, it will boomerang on man. Only the right education, and deep affection between people everywhere, will resolve many problems including the environmental challenges.

3. Religious spirit, which includes the scientific temper: The religious mind is alone, not lonely. It is in communion with people and nature.

The World Crisis

According to Krishnamurti, many problems in the world such as poverty, war, the nuclear threat, and other unfortunate circumstances, have their roots in our thinking. In his view, just as we live and behave according to our thinking so wars and governments are also a result of our thinking. We each have our own particular beliefs, conclusions, and experiences, to which we cling, thereby isolating ourselves from others. Self centered activity is expressed outwardly as nationalism and religious intolerance, creating a world divided, in which we are willing to kill for the sake of belief. Understanding our relationship with the world crisis is necessary to understand ourselves. Some excerpts:

"If you are not at all concerned with the world but only with your personal salvation, following certain beliefs and superstitions, following gurus, then I am afraid it will be impossible for you and the speaker to communicate with each other. We are not concerned at all with private personal salvation but we are concerned, earnestly, seriously, with what the human mind has become, what humanity is facing. We are concerned at looking at this world and what a human being living in this world has to do, what is his role?"

"The present crisis is different because we are dealing not with money, not with tangible things but with ideas. The crisis is in the field of thought, of ideas, of intellect. Before, evil was recognized as evil, murder was recognized as murder, but now murder is a means to achieve a noble result. You justify the wrong means through the intellect. When intellect has the upper hand in human life, it brings an unprecedented crisis. The other cause of this unprecedented crisis is the extraordinary importance man is giving to sensate values - to property, to name, to caste, to country."

These words ring so true today as we follow in the media every day the ongoing conflict of Muslims against every body including different sects of Muslims themselves.

Islamic World's Conflict with the rest of the World

George Weigel, a senior fellow of the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, ably skewers numerous widely held assumptions about the conflict between the Islamic world and the West. Chief among these is the common illusion that-despite the ostentatious religiosity of Osama bin Laden and jihadists in general-what the West faces is a threat of "terrorism" that has no significant religious component, such that Western governments need only focus on poverty and political disenfranchisement in the Islamic world, and that Western strategists need not familiarize themselves with Islamic theology and law. In contrast, Weigel argues that the conflict is inherently and fundamentally theological and that it ultimately involves two radically different conceptions of the nature of the human person and the ideal way to order human society.

This understanding has been impeded by politically-correct fears of offending Muslims or of appearing "Islamophobic". Weigel decries Western media acquiescence to these charges of Islamophobia and argues for a more realistic and honest discourse than has hitherto prevailed. Weigel concludes with a strong call for the recovery of Western cultural self-confidence and the discarding of false notions of tolerance, combined with full-scale efforts to free themselves from energy dependence upon states that would ultimately like to see the United States conquered and Islamized. This is also true for India.

John FG Mcmahon, an Australian journalist writes that "Muslim immigrants/refugees should return to their countries of origin and take their violent evil disruptive ways with them. Australia is a land of immigrants. I am second generation Irish-Australian. Everyone has assimilated. From Greeks, Italians, Lebanese, Catholics/Christians, Russians, Eskimos,South Americans, South Africans (black and white), Mexicans etc etc all get along except for those from Muslim countries".

Why scrutinize Islam and its founder in the first place? Because unlike all other major religions, Islam is daily associated with violence, beheadings, misogyny, child marriage, and hostility for infidels and their ways. Pseudo-respect from non-Muslims shields it from open analysis. Former Al-Azhar Muslim scholar and imam, Mark Gabriel, abandoned his faith by simply musing on such matters: "Did the true God of heaven give him Islam, or did Muhammad invent it? ... Did Muhammad express the heart of the true, merciful God, or did he merely express the dark corners of his own faulty human heart? The implication shook me to the core: If the true God never spoke to Muhammad, then I am a slave to the manipulative imagination of a desert tribesman from the seventh century! These were dangerous thoughts, and I had crossed a dangerous bridge in my mind that all Muslims are taught to walk away from".

Hundreds of Shias have staged protests in recent weeks in Saudi Arabia as police searched in vain for firebrand preacher Nimr al-Nimr, who breached a taboo to suggest in a sermon that Shias could one day seek their own separate state. Saudi officials say Shias make up less than 10 per cent of the population, although diplomats believe the figure is closer to 15 per cent. Most live in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, an absolute monarchy that grants no political rights. This only proves even in their own ‘homelands' Muslims can not live in peace with other Muslims becase of theological reasons.

Counter-insurgency Operations in Pakistan

THE ongoing counter-insurgency operation in Pakistan by its Army against the Taliban is based on a tenuous national consensus that may falter at any time. Even so, all Pakistanis who support the action agree that it is a battle against the ideology of Taliban. Ideally, military action should be decisive and swift, otherwise, the longer the operation lasts the more chances of opposition.

At the moment the Taliban forces resisting army advances in Swat are the first layer of militants that have to be dealt with. However, the true challenge to defeating this insurgency will be apparent once this initial force has been dispersed and the amorphous enemy blends with the general public. The outcome or duration of such a war, therefore, cannot be predicted.

To counter such an insurgency two elements are of crucial relevance. First, a strong intelligence network is required whereby the existing military action can eventually morph into an operation where hostile targets are pinpointed and eliminated with minimum collateral damage. Second, new recruits to the Taliban - and their funding - have to be stopped.

A by-product of the war that could have devastating repercussions if not addressed in an appropriate manner is the case of internally displaced people or the IDPs. The exact number of refugees is uncertain. The computation of such statistics is complicated as a majority of IDPs have opted to live outside the camps generally with friends and relatives and, therefore, are unregistered. However, according to some estimates the numbers may have crossed the three million mark.

Stressing that the fight against extremism is an ideological struggle and not a subject of military victory, a Pakistani thinker said: "For several years Muslims have not introspected and have slowly stagnated. Military force is not the solution. The entire mindset needs a makeover." There are killing of Talibans by Talibans due to ideology. One of Pakistani Taliban leader Batullah Mehsud's vocal critics - 26-year-old rival Qari Zainuddin - was found shot dead in his office, and the blame will likely fall on Mehsud's faction trying to cement its position.

The military operation in Swat, Buner and Dir could be the springboard for a wider policy of crushing militancy of all stripes inside Pakistan. No more good Taliban/bad Taliban, our guys versus Al Qaeda and Arab outsiders, but a clear, unequivocal sign that a militant is bad because he is a militant and not because of the kind of militant agenda he subscribes to. Is that happening? Two very bad signs have been sent out that it is not.

First, Hafiz Saeed has been released. This wasn't a case of judicial activism by the superior judiciary, but a case of the inevitable given the lack of the government's interest in prosecuting the leader of the group believed to be behind the Mumbai attacks last November. Saeed's release capped what has been a rather half-hearted, arguably farcical, attempt to clamp down on Jamaatud Dawa and its earlier incarnation, Lashkar-i-Taiba. Famous author and thinker, Selig Harrison, has warned that the LeT is could topple the democratic set-up of Pakistan and take over the reigns of the country. "The Pakistan government did make a show of cracking down on Lashkar-e-Tiiba after the Mumbai tragedy, but the government stopped short of breaking up the militias and destroying the weapons stockpiles at their four training camps near Muridke and Muzaffarabad," wrote Harrison. "It has yet to prosecute the six prisoners or to arrest Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi, identified by US and Indian intelligence sources as the ringleader of the Mumbai attack," he said.

Maj Gen Athar Abbas, head of the army's public affairs division, was interviewed by the Financial Times in which he indicated the change in focus in the military's thinking. ‘An existential threat in terms of our internal security has grown over time. It needs our attention and an urgent response,' he told the correspondents of the British newspaper. The thinking is changing but the army is aware of the dangers that are involved. ‘But we have to be very careful as we are operating against our own people in their own area. We have to separate the militants from the tribes. We can afford to fight the militants; we cannot afford to fight the tribes,' he continued.

The repair must begin by Pakistanis first admitting that the version of Islam they are practicing indeed encourages extremism and violence. Shallow slogans like ‘Islam is a religion of peace' and ‘no Muslim can kill another' simply hide the infection deep within the system. Interpretation of Islam needs a major reformation today.  Complete overhaul of messages coming from textbooks, classrooms, media, sermons, political rhetoric, and the other areas of public is needed.

Tone and tenor of a conference of ulema and mashaikh in Islamabad on Sunday 14 June 2009 went beyond the merely technical denunciation of suicide bombings and beheadings and appeared to represent the anti-Taliban wave now sweeping across the nation.

The spokesman said Pakistan had suffered the most because of extremism and terrorism, adding that there had been 22 terrorist attacks in various parts of the country over the past one year, claiming 300 lives.

The reason why the government and the tribal elders fail to tackle the situation is that sectarianism, militancy, crimes and tribal feuds have mingled with each other in the Kohat region.

After the death of Sarfraz Naeemi, the Barelvi-Deobandi issue has sharpened,' said political analyst Hasan Askari Rizvi. ‘If such incidents happen again then I'm afraid the situation could be aggravated,' he said.

For now the Baitullahs, Fazlullahs, Mangal Baghs, and their ilk are on the run. A former Pakistani Intelligence officer has said said there was only one way to deal with the most determined fighters. ‘The hard-core, there is only one thing. You have to kill them,' he said. ‘They are like a mad dog, and what can you do with a mad dog? You must kill it.'

Yet, they could still win some day. Even if killed, others would replace them. So, while currently necessary, military action alone can never be sufficient. Nor will peace come from merely building more roads, schools and hospitals or inventing a new justice system.

Ultimately it is the power of ideas that shall decide between victory and defeat. It is here that Pakistan is weakest and most vulnerable. A gaping philosophical and ideological void has left the door open to demagogues who exploit resource scarcity and bad governance. They use every failing of the state to create an insurrectionary mood and churn out suicide bombers. Only a few Islamic scholars, like Dr Naeemi, have ventured to challenge them.

Pervez Hoodbhoy of Quaid-i-azam University, Islamabad says: The long-term defense of Pakistan therefore demands a determined ideological offensive and a decisive break with the past. Nations win wars only if there is a clear rallying slogan and a shared goal. For this, Pakistan must reinvent itself as a state that is seen to care for its people. Instead of seeking to fix the world's problems - Kashmir, Afghanistan and Palestine included - it must work to first fix its own.

A nation's best defense is a loyal citizenry. This can be created only by offering equal rights and opportunities to all regardless of province, language and, most importantly, religion and religious sect. Navigating the way to heaven must be solely an individual's concern, not that of the state.

Pakistan selectively targets militants who threaten domestic stability, like the Pakistani Taliban in the Swat valley, while leaving alone those who can be used against India or to extend its influence in Afghanistan.

Muslims in India

After the famous speech of President Obama at Cairo to the Muslim World one Muslim of India, Iqbal, said, "Obama didn't use the word 'terrorism' ever. He said 'violent extremists'. I really appreciate it. I know there are people in Muslim world who justify 9/11.

One should, however, be warned against complacency about terrorism in any form, particularly in India, as evidenced by regular arrest of extremists there. Hardcore Islamists do exist in India and madrasas  abound there which supply recruits for the extremist religious outfits.

India had to snap recently at the Organization of Islamic Conference, a regular Delhi-baiter on Kashmir, for dismissing as a mere ‘incident' the terror attack that killed about 170 people in Mumbai. After all, the Organization only voiced what Islam thinks of non-Muslim lives.

Education system in madrasas is set to witness a restructuring in India with Human Resources Development Minister Kapil Sibal saying these institutions will impart professional training along with religious teachings to empower Muslim youth. However, he clarified that the ministry will not interfere with the religious teachings in madrasas.

"Some announcement will be made on that. It will be part of the 100-day agenda. When I talk about restructuring education, we will not interfere with the religious teaching in madrassas. But at the same time, the aim will be to empower Muslim youth," Sibal said in an interview.

"The objective is to ensure that when the Muslim youth go out of schools, they get job opportunities. We will ensure that they have skills and they are equipped with the kind of education that enables them to be part of the mainstream," he said.

The government has already decided to treat madrasa qualification at par with CBSE to enable Muslim students to get Central government jobs. However, this benefit will be available for those madrasas which are affiliated to the state madrasa boards existing in 10 states.

On the other hand, senior clerics of India's top seminary whose version of Islam the Taliban claim to follow have denounced the actions of the hard-line militia, saying the group does not qualify to enjoy affiliations with the historic madrasa.

In an interview with a correspondent of the BBC Urdu Service, the rector and the head of faculty of Darul Uloom (Waqf) Deoband said attacks by ‘vigilantes' in which innocent people died was not jihad but ‘individual zulm (oppression)'.

Seen in this light, attacks on shrines, barber shops and educational institutions were all un-Islamic. Maulana Saalim Qasimi.

Cause of Muslim Aggression

8/39: Fight them until persecution is no more and religion is all for Allah. This Koranic verse means that Allah through Muhammad wanted the Muslims to fight a perpetual war against the non-believers of Mecca.

What was the justification for Muslims under the guidance of Muhammad to commit crimes against the polytheists of Arabia? What was the justification of waging Jihad in Africa, in Europe, and in South Asia? Surely, there was then no Kashmiri, Palestinian, or Chechen problem to use as an excuse.

Islam needs to be defeated at every level, especially at the intellectual level. Questioning the very pillars of Islam should be at the heart of every academic discussion of Islamic terrorism.

Harking back to a largely mythical tradition of hundreds of years ago to interpret and devise shariah in a modern setting is an act that can only spell socio-political and cultural disaster - plus, according to the scholars, this intransigent practice and propagation actually goes against the intellectual and evolutionary spirit of law-devising in Islam, says Nadeem Paracha in Pakistani newspaper ‘Dawn'.

The Arabic word Millat stands for brotherhood and word Kufr stands for "to
disbelieve" or "to oppose" and those who do kufr are kafirs. The first
postulate Millat and Kufr says that those who surrender to Allah's Koran and Allah'
s Prophet Muhammad are imandar Mussalmans and those who do not, belong to
the most despicable species, the kafirs. So, according to Islamic theology,
each and every non-Muslim is a kafir while all Muslims are brothers (kulla
muslemein ikhuatun) and all kafirs are enemies of the Muslims. Most importantly,
it divides the entire humanity into two camps, one is the Muslim-camp while
the other is the kafir-camp.

In the eye of Allah, these kafirs are no better than animals and hence He
instructs the Muslims to mount any kind of torture and atrocities on them,
kill them, burn them and their houses, take their women and children as captives
and rape their women and so on. So the Koran says----"We have created, for
hell, many genii (races) of men, ....and they are like brute beasts" (7.179) ; "
Verily, those who disbelieve our signs, we will surely cast them to be
broiled in the hell-fire, so often as their skins shall be well burnt, We will give
them new skins in exchange, so that they may taste the sharper torment"
(4.56) ; "Whosoever followeth any religion other than Islam, it shall not be
accepted of him in this life, and in the next life he shall be of those who perish
" (3.85) ; "I will cast a dread into the hearts of the unbelievers" (8.12)
; "Therefore cut off their heads, and strike off all the ends of the fingers.
This shall they suffer because they have opposed Allah and His Prophet, and
whosoever shall oppose Allah and His Prophet, verily Allah will be severe in
punishing them" (8.13);
"moreover, as for the non-believers, I will punish
them with grievous punishments in this world, and in the world to come"
(3.56) ; "Allah loves not the unbelievers" (3.57) ; " they shall suffer a
grievous punishment" (3.77). "They (believers) shall fight in the way of Allah,
and shall slay and be slain" (9, 111).

The second postulate ‘dar-ul-Islam and dar-ul-harb' of Islam tells that all
the countries on the earth can broadly be divided into two categories.
Dar-ul-Islam means those countries which have already come under the domination of  Islam. The literal meaning of dar-ul-harb is the land of warfare. It refers
to those countries which have not yet been conquered by Islam and where the
Muslims are fighting with the kafirs to bring them under their control. The
ultimate aim of Islam is to turn the entire world into a dar-ul-Islam, or to
bring the entire world under the banner of Islam. Hence the Koran says, "Go on
fighting against them till the rule of Allah is not established (8.39)."

How to bring the entire world under the banner of Islam? Here to Convert
each and every dar-ul-harb into a dar-ul-Islam ? Here comes the third decree of
Islam, jihad. In plain words, jihad means indiscriminate killing of kafirs,
plundering their wealth, occupying their land and other properties by sword,
fire and rape. A Muslim participating in Jihad is called a mujahid (plural :
mujahidin) and Allah's ultimate intention is to raise and establish His
religion to reign supreme with the help of the mujahidin. Therefore the terrorists
are Allah's mujahidin and their aim is to abolish the kafir-camp, or cause
harm to the kafir-camp. Even seducing or raping kafir women is a part of
Jihad.

From Islamic viewpoint, any terrorist attack is an attack on the kafir-camp by the Muslim-camp and hence not only the handful of terrorists but most of the Muslim-camp.

How to Contain Islamic Terrorism:

There is no doubt that the Koran is the fountainhead of Islamic terrorism and anyone who believes in complete Koran is responsible. Hence it becomes evident that, Islamic terrorism cannot be wiped out by capturing a few terrorists and killing them or by putting them in jails. To put an end to Islamic terrorism, action should be taken to modify Koran. It has been mentioned above that Koran is the fountainhead of Islamic terrorism or it is the source of inspiration for terrorism. And more pointedly, the hateful kafir killing verses of the Koran are the fountainhead of Islamic terrorism. So the first step to end Islamic terrorism is to delete violent passages from that book. The second step is to take action against the terrorists as well as their sympathizers.

Renowned author Craig Winn has said that, as there is only one Koran and there is nothing like a good Koran and a bad Koran. The entire community of non-Muslims, or all the members of the kafir-camp has to be united together with moderate Muslims  and come forward to pressurize the Muslim community as a whole to modify the Koran.

One argument kafirs can advance that should they accept the Koran as their own book, but with a little change, how will Muslims feel. Replace the words like kafir, polytheist,
idolater, non-believer etc. by the word Muslim. For example, the verse (IX,5) of the Koran reads, "Then, when the sacred months are over, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them and take them captive ....". The kafirs could rewrite the verse as, "Then, when the sacred months are over, slay the Muslims wherever ye find them and take them captive ...." Similarly, the verse (VIII, 12) says, "I will cast a dread into the hearts of the unbelievers" and the kafirs could alter it to read, "We will cast dread into the hearts of the
Muslims". This altered Koran would spur Muslims to see the wisdom of modifying their Koran which would lead to vanishing of the menace of Islamic terrorism.

Optional Verses

What follow are the verses from Koran that need to be considered for deletion so that the Muslim children - and adults - are not brainwashed to consider other human beings as fit for hell only.

SURAH 2.         Al-Baqara

23. And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (i.e. the Qur'ân) to Our slave (Muhammad Peace be upon him), then produce a Sûrah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allâh, if you are truthful. 24. But if you do it not, and you can never do it, then fear the Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.

39. But those who disbelieve and belie Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) such are the dwellers of the Fire, they shall abide therein forever.

88. And they say, "Our hearts are wrapped (i.e. do not hear or understand Allâh's Word)." Nay, Allâh has cursed them for their disbelief, so little is that which they believe.

126. And (remember) when Ibrâhim (Abraham) said, "My Lord, make this city (Makkah) a place of security and provide its people with fruits, such of them as believe in Allâh and the Last Day." He (Allâh) answered: "As for him who disbelieves, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the torment of the Fire, and worst indeed is that destination!"

161. Verily, those who disbelieve, and die while they are disbelievers, it is they on whom is the Curse of Allâh and of the angels and of mankind, combined.

162. They will abide therein (under the curse in Hell), their punishment will neither be lightened, nor will they be reprieved.

191. And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah is worse than killing. And fight not with them at Al-Masjid-al-Harâm (the sanctuary at Makkah), unless they (first) fight you there. But if they attack you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.

193. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allâh) and (all and every kind of) worship is for Allâh (Alone). But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zâlimûn (the polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.)

216. Jihâd (holy fighting in Allâh's Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allâh knows but you do not know.

244. And fight in the Way of Allâh and know that Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

SURAH 3 - Al-Imran

10. Verily, those who disbelieve, neither their properties nor their offspring will avail them whatsoever against Allâh; and it is they who will be fuel of the Fire.

11. Like the behaviour of the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and those before them; they belied Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), so Allâh seized (destroyed) them for their sins. And Allâh is Severe in punishment.

12. Say to those who disbelieve: "You will be defeated and gathered together to Hell, and worst indeed is that place to rest."

13. There has already been a sign for you (O Jews) in the two armies that met (in combat i.e. the battle of Badr): One was fighting in the Cause of Allâh, and as for the other (they) were disbelievers. They (the believers) saw them (the disbelievers) with their own eyes twice their number (although they were thrice their number). And Allâh supports with His Victory whom He pleases. Verily, in this is a lesson for those who understand.

28. Let not the believers take the disbelievers as Auliyâ (supporters, helpers, etc.) instead of the believers, and whoever does that will never be helped by Allâh in any way, except if you indeed fear a danger from them. And Allâh warns you against Himself (His Punishment), and to Allâh is the final return.

56. "As to those who disbelieve, I will punish them with a severe torment in this world and in the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers."

85. And whoever seeks a religion other than Islâm, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers. 86. How shall Allâh guide a people who disbelieved after their belief and after they bore witness that the Messenger is true and after clear proofs had come unto them? And Allâh guides not the people who are Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers). 87. They are those whose recompense is that on them (rests) the Curse of Allâh, of the angels, and of all mankind. 88. They will abide therein (Hell). Neither will their torment be lightened, nor will it be delayed or postponed (for a while).

90. Verily, those who disbelieved after their Belief and then went on increasing in their disbelief (i.e. disbelief in the Qur'ân and in Prophet Muhammad SAW) - never will their repentance be accepted. And they are those who are astray.

91. Verily, those who disbelieved, and died while they were disbelievers, the (whole) earth full of gold will not be accepted from anyone of them even if they offered it as a ransom. For them is a painful torment and they will have no helpers.

106. On the Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) when some faces will become white and some faces will become black; as for those whose faces will become black (to them will be said): "Did you reject Faith after accepting it? Then taste the torment (in Hell) for rejecting Faith."

116. Surely, those who reject Faith (disbelieve in Muhammad as being Allâh's Prophet), neither their properties, nor their offspring will avail them aught against Allâh. They are the dwellers of the Fire, therein they will abide.

117. The likeness of what they spend in this world is the likeness of a wind which is extremely cold; it struck the harvest of a people who did wrong against themselves and destroyed it, (i.e. the good deed of a person is only accepted if he is a monotheist and believes in all the Prophets of Allâh, including Christ and Muhammed). Allâh wronged them not, but they wronged themselves.

118. O you who believe! Take not as (your) Bitânah (advisors, consultants, protectors, helpers, friends, etc.) those outside your religion (pagans, Jews, Christians, and hypocrites) since they will not fail to do their best to corrupt you. They desire to harm you severely. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their breasts conceal is far worse. Indeed We have made plain to you the Ayât if you understand.

131. And fear the Fire, which is prepared for the disbelievers.

141. And that Allâh may test (or purify) the believers (from sins) and destroy the disbelievers.

151. We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they joined others in worship with Allâh, for which He had sent no authority; their abode will be the Fire and how evil is the abode of the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrongdoers).

178. And let not the disbelievers think that Our postponing of their punishment is good for them. We postpone the punishment only so that they may increase in sinfulness. And for them is a disgracing torment.

192. "Our Lord! Verily, whom You admit to the Fire, indeed, You have disgraced him, and never will the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers) find any helpers.

196. Let not the free disposal (and affluence) of the disbelievers throughout the land deceive you.

197. A brief enjoyment; then, their ultimate abode is Hell; and worst indeed is that place for rest.

Surah 4 - Al Nisa

46. Among those who are Jews, there are some who displace words from (their) right places and say: "We hear your word (O Muhammad) and disobey," and "Hear and let you (O Muhammad) hear nothing." And Râ'ina with a twist of their tongues and as a mockery of the religion (Islâm). And if only they had said: "We hear and obey", and "Do make us understand," it would have been better for them, and more proper, but Allâh has cursed them for their disbelief, so they believe not except a few.

47. O you who have been given the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Believe in what We have revealed (to Muhammad SAW) confirming what is (already) with you, before We efface faces (by making them like the back of necks; without nose, mouth, eyes, etc.) and turn them hindwards, or curse them as We cursed the Sabbathbreakers. And the Commandment of Allâh is always executed.

51. Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture? They believe in Jibt and Tâghû and say to the disbelievers that they are better guided as regards the way than the believers (Muslims). 52. They are those whom Allâh has cursed, and he whom Allâh curses, you will not find for him (any) helper,

55. Of them were (some) who believed in him (Muhammad), and of them were (some) who averted their faces from him (Muhammad); and enough is Hell for burning (them).

56. Surely! Those who disbelieved in Our Ayât  We shall burn them in Fire. As often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for other skins that they may taste the punishment. Truly, Allâh is Ever Most Powerful, AllWise.

88. Then what is the matter with you that you are divided into two parties about the hypocrites? Allâh has cast them back (to disbelief) because of what they have earned. Do you want to guide him whom Allâh has made to go astray? And he whom Allâh has made to go astray, you will never find for him any way (of guidance).

89. They wish that you reject Faith, as they have rejected (Faith), and thus that you all become equal (like one another). So take not Auliyâ' (protectors or friends) from them, till they emigrate in the Way of Allâh. But if they turn back (from Islâm), take (hold) of them and kill them wherever you find them, and take neither Auliyâ'  nor helpers from them.

97. Verily! As for those whom the angels take (in death) while they are wronging themselves (as they stayed among the disbelievers even though emigration was obligatory for them), they (angels) say (to them): "In what (condition) were you?" They reply: "We were weak and oppressed on earth." They (angels) say: "Was not the earth of Allâh spacious enough for you to emigrate therein?" Such men will find their abode in Hell - What an evil destination!

115. And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger after the right path has been shown clearly to him, and follows other than the believers' way. We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell - what an evil destination.

117. They (all those who worship others than Allâh) invoke nothing but female deities besides Him (Allâh), and they invoke nothing but Shaitân (Satan), a persistent rebel!

118. Allâh cursed him. And he [Shaitân] said: "I will take an appointed portion of your slaves;

119. Verily, I will mislead them, and surely, I will arouse in them false desires; and certainly, I will order them to slit the ears of cattle, and indeed I will order them to change the nature created by Allâh." And whoever takes Shaitân as a Walî (protector or helper) instead of Allâh, has surely suffered a manifest loss.

120. He [Shaitan] makes promises to them, and arouses in them false desires; and Shaitan's) promises are nothing but deceptions. The dwelling of such (people) is Hell, and they will find no way of escape from it.

140. And it has already been revealed to you in the Book (this Qur'ân) that when you hear the Verses of Allâh being denied and mocked at, then sit not with them, until they engage in a talk other than that; (but if you stayed with them) certainly in that case you would be like them. Surely, Allâh will collect the hypocrites and disbelievers all together in Hell,

144. O you who believe! Take not for Auliyâ' (protectors or helpers or friends) disbelievers instead of believers. Do you wish to offer Allâh a manifest proof against yourselves?

150. Verily, those who disbelieve in Allâh and His Messengers and wish to make distinction between Allâh and His Messengers (by believing in Allâh and disbelieving in His Messengers) saying, "We believe in some but reject others", and wish to adopt a way in between.

151. They are in truth disbelievers. And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating torment.

160. For the wrongdoing of the Jews, We made unlawful to them certain good foods which has been lawful to them, and for their hindering many from Allâh's Way;

168. Verily, those who disbelieve and did wrong [by concealing the truth about Prophet Muhammad and his message of true Islâmic Monotheism written with them in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)], Allâh will not forgive them, nor will He guide them to any way, - (Tafsir Al-Qurtubî).

169. Except the way of Hell, to dwell therein forever, and this is ever easy for Allâh.

Surah 5  Al Maidah

10. They who disbelieve and deny our Ayât are those who will be the dwellers of the Hellfire.

36. Verily, those who disbelieve, if they had all that is in the earth, and as much again therewith to ransom themselves thereby from the torment on the Day of Resurrection, it would never be accepted of them, and theirs would be a painful torment.

37. They will long to get out of the Fire, but never will they get out therefrom, and theirs will be a lasting torment.

38. Cut off (from the wrist joint) the (right) hand of the thief, male or female, as a recompense for that which they committed, a punishment by way of example from Allâh. And Allâh is AllPowerful, AllWise.

41. O Messenger! Let not those who hurry to fall into disbelief grieve you, of such who say: "We believe" with their mouths but their hearts have no faith. And of the Jews are men who listen much and eagerly to lies - listen to others who have not come to you. They change the words from their places; they say, "If you are given this, take it, but if you are not given this, then beware!" And whomsoever Allâh wants to put in AlFitnah [error, because of his rejecting the Faith], you can do nothing for him against Allâh. Those are the ones whose hearts Allâh does not want to purify (from disbelief and hypocrisy); for them there is a disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter a great torment.

45. And We ordained therein for them: "Life for life, eye for eye, nose for nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if anyone remits the retaliation by way of charity, it shall be for him an expiation. And whosoever does not judge by that which Allâh has revealed, such are the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrongdoers - of a lesser degree).

60. Say (O Muhammad to the people of the Scripture): "Shall I inform you of something worse than that, regarding the recompense from Allâh: those (Jews) who incurred the Curse of Allâh and His Wrath, those of whom (some) He transformed into monkeys and swines, those who worshipped Tâghût (false deities); such are worse in rank (on the Day of Resurrection in the Hellfire), and far more astray from the Right Path (in the life of this world)."

73. Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "Allâh is the third of the three (in a Trinity)." But there is no ilâh (god) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One Ilâh. And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall the disbelievers among them.

80. You see many of them taking the disbelievers as their Auliyâ. Evil indeed is that which their ownselves have sent forward before them, for that (reason) Allâh's Wrath fell upon them and in torment they will abide.

86. But those who disbelieved and belied Our Ayât, they shall be the dwellers of the (Hell) Fire.

Surah 6 Al Am'an

27. If you could but see when they will be held over the (Hell) Fire! They will say: "Would that we were but sent back (to the world)! Then we would not deny the Ayât of our Lord, and we would be of the believers!"

30. If you could but see when they will be held (brought and made to stand) in front of their Lord! He will say: "Is not this (Resurrection and the taking of the accounts) the truth?" They will say: "Yes, by our Lord!" He will then say: "So taste you the torment because you used not to believe."

49. But those who reject Our Ayât, the torment will touch them for their disbelief (and for their belying the Message of Muhammad).

128. And on the Day when He will gather them (all) together (and say): "O you assembly of jinns! Many did you mislead of men," and their Auliyâ' (friends and helpers, etc.) amongst men will say: "Our Lord! We benefited one from the other, but now we have reached our appointed term which You did appoint for us." He will say: "The Fire be your dwelling place, you will dwell therein forever, except as Allâh may will. Certainly your Lord is AllWise, AllKnowing."

Surah7.AlA'raf

3. Say to these idolaters (pagan Arabs) of your folk:] Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord (the Qur'ân and Prophet Muhammad's Sunnah), and follow not any Auliyâ' (protectors and helpers, etc. who order you to associate partners in worship with Allâh), besides Him (Allâh). Little do you remember. 4. And a great number of towns (their population) We destroyed (for their crimes). Our torment came upon them (suddenly) by night or while they were sleeping for their afternoon rest. 9. And as for those whose scale will be light, they are those who will lose their ownselves (by entering Hell) because they denied and rejected Our Ayât. 40. Verily, those who belie Our Ayât and treat them with arrogance, for them the gates of heaven will not be opened, and they will not enter Paradise until the camel goes through the eye of the needle (which is impossible). Thus do We recompense the Mujrimûn (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 41. Theirs will be a bed of Hell (Fire), and over them coverings (of Hell-fire). Thus do We recompense the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrongdoers, etc.).  44. And the dwellers of Paradise will call out to the dwellers of the Fire (saying): "We have indeed found true what our Lord had promised us; have you also found true, what your Lord promised (warnings, etc.)?" They shall say: "Yes." Then a crier will proclaim between them: "The Curse of Allâh is on the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrongdoers, etc.),"47. And when their eyes will be turned towards the dwellers of the Fire, they will say: "Our Lord! Place us not with the people who are Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrongdoers)."50. And the dwellers of the Fire will call to the dwellers of Paradise: "Pour on us some water or anything that Allâh has provided you with." They will say: "Both (water and provision) Allâh has forbidden to the disbelievers."

136. So We took retribution from them. We drowned them in the sea, because they belied Our Ayât and were heedless about them.

139. Mûsa (Moses) added: "Verily, these people will be destroyed for that which they are engaged in (idols-worship). And all that they are doing is in vain."

167. And (remember) when your Lord declared that He would certainly keep on sending against them (i.e. the Jews), till the Day of Resurrection, those who would afflict them with a humiliating torment. Verily, your Lord is Quick in Retribution (for the disobedient, wicked) and certainly He is OftForgiving, Most Merciful (for the obedient and those who beg Allâh's Forgiveness).

Surah 8. Al - Anfal                                                                                                                                                                                                                   12. (Remember) when your Lord inspired the angels, "Verily, I am with you, so keep firm those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved, so strike them over the necks, and smite over all their fingers and toes." 13. This is because they defied and disobeyed Allâh and His Messenger. And whoever defies and disobeys Allâh and His Messenger, then verily, Allâh is Severe in punishment. 14. This is the torment, so taste it, and surely for the disbelievers is the torment of the Fire.

39. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allâh) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allâh Alone [in the whole of the world]. But if they cease (worshipping others besides Allâh), then certainly, Allâh is All-Seer of what they do.

50. And if you could see when the angels take away the souls of those who disbelieve (at death), they smite their faces and their backs, (saying): "Taste the punishment of the blazing Fire."

59. And let not those who disbelieve think that they can outstrip (escape from the punishment). Verily, they will never be able to save themselves (from Allâh's Punishment). 60. And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery, etc.) to threaten the enemy of Allâh and your enemy, and others besides whom, you may not know but whom Allâh does know. And whatever you shall spend in the Cause of Allâh shall be repaid unto you, and you shall not be treated unjustly.

65. O Prophet (Muhammad)! Urge the believers to fight. If there are twenty steadfast persons amongst you, they will overcome two hundred, and if there be a hundred steadfast persons they will overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they (the disbelievers) are people who do not understand.

66. Now Allâh has lightened your (task), for He knows that there is weakness in you. So if there are of you a hundred steadfast persons, they shall overcome two hundred, and if there are a thousand of you, they shall overcome two thousand with the Leave of Allâh. And Allâh is with As-Sâbirin (the patient ones, etc.).

67. It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war (and free them with ransom) until he had made a great slaughter (among his enemies) in the land. You desire the good of this world (i.e. the money of ransom for freeing the captives), but Allâh desires (for you) the Hereafter. And Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

73. And those who disbelieve are allies to one another, (and) if you (Muslims of the whole world collectively) do not do so (i.e. become allies, as one united block with one Khalifah - chief Muslim ruler for the whole Muslim world to make victorious Allâh's Religion of Islâmic Monotheism), there will be Fitnah (wars, battles, polytheism, etc.) and oppression on earth, and a great mischief and corruption (appearance of polytheism).

9. Al- Taubah

5 Then when the Sacred Months (the Ist, 7th, 11th, and 12th months of the Islamic calendar) have passed, then kill the Mushrikoon  wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and prepare for them each and every ambush. But if they repent and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat, then leave their way free. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful

23. O ye who believe! take not for protectors your fathers and your brothers if they love infidelity above Faith: if any of you do so, they do wrong. (24) Fight against those who (1) believe not in Allah, (2) nor in the Last Day, (3) nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger (4) and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islam) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

26   Then GOD sent down contentment upon His messenger and upon the believers. And He sent down invisible soldiers; He thus punished those who disbelieved. This is the requital for the disbelievers

[9:28]   O you who believe, the idol worshipers are polluted; they shall not be permitted to approach the Sacred Masjid after this year. If you fear loss of income, GOD will shower you with His provisions, in accordance with His will. GOD is Omniscient, Most Wise. [9:29]   You shall fight back against those who do not believe in GOD, nor in the Last Day, nor do they prohibit what GOD and His messenger have prohibited, nor do they abide by the religion of truth - among those who received the scripture - until they pay the due tax, willingly or unwillingly.

[9:68]   GOD promises the hypocrite men and the hypocrite women, as well as the disbelievers, the fire of Hell, wherein they abide forever. It suffices them. GOD has condemned them; they have incurred an everlasting retribution.

[9:73]   O you prophet, strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be stern in dealing with them. Their destiny is Hell; what a miserable abode! [9:74]   They swear by GOD that they never said it, although they have uttered the word of disbelief; they have disbelieved after becoming submitters. In fact, they gave up what they never had. They have rebelled even though GOD and His messenger have showered them with His grace and provisions. If they repent, it would be best for them.  But if they turn away, GOD will commit them to painful retribution in this life and in the Hereafter. They will find no one on earth to be their lord and master.

[9:111]   GOD has bought from the believers their lives and their money in exchange for Paradise. Thus, they fight in the cause of GOD, willing to kill and get killed. Such is His truthful pledge in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran - and who fulfills His pledge better than GOD? You shall rejoice in making such an exchange. This is the greatest triumph.

[9:113]   Neither the prophet, nor those who believe shall ask forgiveness for the idol worshipers, even if they were their nearest of kin, once they realize that they are destined for Hell.

Surah 11. Hud

[11:17]   As for those who are given solid proof from their Lord, reported by a witness from Him, and before it, the book of Moses has set a precedent and a mercy, they will surely believe. As for those who disbelieve among the various groups, Hell is awaiting them. Do not harbor any doubt; this is the truth from your Lord, but most people disbelieve.

Surah 12. Yousuf

[12:106]   The majority of those who believe in GOD do not do so without committing idol worship. [12:107]   Have they guaranteed that an overwhelming retribution from GOD will not strike them, or the Hour will not come to them suddenly, when they least expect it?

Sirah 14. Ibrahim

[14:18]   The allegory of those who disbelieve in their Lord: their works are like ashes in a violent wind, on a stormy day.  They gain nothing from whatever they earn; such is the farthest straying. [14:28]   Have you noted those who responded to GOD's blessings by disbelieving, and thus brought disaster upon their own families? [14:29]   Hell is their destiny, wherein they burn; what a miserable end!

Surah 18.The Cave (Al-Kahf)                                                                                                                                                              29. Say, "The truth is from your Lord": Let him who will believe, and let him who will, reject (it): for the wrong-doers We have prepared a Fire whose (smoke and flames), like the walls and roof of a tent, will hem them in: if they implore relief they will be granted water like melted brass, that will scald their faces, how dreadful the drink! How uncomfortable a couch to recline on!

[57]   Who are more evil than those who are reminded of their Lord's proofs, then disregard them, without realizing what they are doing. Consequently, we place shields on their hearts to prevent them from understanding it (the Quran), and deafness in their ears. Thus, no matter what you do to guide them, they can never ever be guided.                                                                                                                                                     [100]   We will present Hell, on that day, to the disbelievers.

[101]   They are the ones whose eyes were too veiled to see My message. Nor could they hear.

[102] Do those who disbelieve think that they can get away with setting up My servants as gods beside Me? We have prepared for the disbelievers Hell as an eternal abode.

Surah 20. T.H. (Ta Ha)

[97]   He said, "Then go, and, throughout your life, do not even come close. You have an appointed time (for your final judgment) that you can never evade. Look at your god that you used to worship; we will burn it and throw it into the sea, to stay down there forever27."

[127]   We thus requite those who transgress and refuse to believe in the revelations of their Lord. The retribution in the Hereafter is far worse and everlasting.

Surah 22.Pilgrimige (Al-Hajj)                                                                                                                                [22:19]  Here are two parties feuding with regard to their Lord.  As for those who disbelieve, they will have clothes of fire tailored for them. Hellish liquid will be poured on top of their heads.

[22:20]   It will cause their insides to melt, as well as their skins.

[22:21]   They will be confined in iron pots.

[22:22]   Whenever they try to exit such misery, they will be forced back in: "Taste the agony of burning."

[22:51]  As for those who strive to challenge our revelations, they incur Hell.

[22:57]   While those who disbelieved and rejected our revelations have incurred a shameful retribution.

Surah 24-   Light (Al-Noor)

[24:2]   The adulteress and the adulterer you shall whip each of them a hundred lashes. Do not be swayed by pity from carrying out GOD's law, if you truly believe in GOD and the Last Day. And let a group of believers witness their penalty. [24:3]   The adulterer will end up marrying an adulteress or an idol worshiper, and the adulteress will end up marrying an adulterer or an idol worshiper. This is prohibited for the believers. [24:4]   Those who accuse married women of adultery, then fail to produce four witnesses, you shall whip them eighty lashes, and do not accept any testimony from them; they are wicked. 24:57]   Do not think that those who disbelieve will ever get away with it. Their final abode is Hell; what a miserable destiny.

Surah 25-   The Statute Book (Al-Furqan).

[11]   In fact, they have disbelieved in the Hour (Day of Resurrection), and we have prepared for those who disbelieve in the Hour a flaming Hell. [12]   When it sees them from afar, they will hear its rage and fuming. [13]   And when they are thrown into it, through a narrow place, all shackled, they will declare their remorse. [14]   You will not declare just a single remorse, on that day; you will suffer through a great number of remorses. 52. Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness, with the (Qur'an).

Surah 29.The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)                                                                                                                                          [29:25]   He said, "You worship beside GOD powerless idols due to peer pressure, just to preserve some friendship among you in this worldly life. But then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will disown one another, and curse one another. Your destiny is Hell, wherein you cannot help one another."

Surah 30.The Romans (Al-Room)

[30:16]   As for those who disbelieve, and reject our revelations and the meeting of the Hereafter, they will last in the retribution forever.

Surah 34. Sheba (Saba)

[5]   As for those who constantly challenge our revelations, they have incurred a retribution of painful humiliation    [33]   The followers will say to their leaders, "It was you who schemed night and day, then commanded us to be unappreciative of GOD, and to set up idols to rank with Him." They will be ridden with remorse, when they see the retribution, for we will place shackles around the necks of those who disbelieved. Are they not justly requited for what they did?

Surah 35. Faater

36.   As for those who disbelieve, they have incurred the fire of Hell, where they are never finished by death, nor is the retribution ever commuted for them. We thus requite the unappreciative.

Surah 36-   Y.S. (Ya Sin)

63. This is the Hell that was promised for you. 64. Today you will burn in it, as a consequence of your disbelief.

Surah 37.  The Arrangers (Al-Saffat)

[37:161]   Indeed, you and what you worship. [37:162]   cannot impose anything on Him. [37:163]   Only you will burn in Hell.

Surah .38.S. (Saad)

[38:27]   We did not create the heaven and the earth, and everything between them, in vain. Such is the thinking of those who disbelieve. Therefore, woe to those who disbelieve; they will suffer in Hell.

Surah 39.The Throngs (Al-Zumar)

[39:70]   Every soul will be paid for whatever it did, for He is fully aware of everything they have done. [39:71]   Those who disbelieved will be led to Hell in throngs.  When they get to it, and its gates are opened, its guards will say, "Did you not receive messengers from among you, who recited to you the revelations of your Lord, and warned you about meeting this day?" They will answer, "Yes indeed. But the word `retribution' was already stamped upon the disbelievers." [39:72]   It will be said, "Enter the gates of Hell, wherein you abide forever." What a miserable destiny for the arrogant.

Surah 40-   Forgiver (Ghafer)

[40:70]   They are the ones who have disbelieved in the scripture, and in the messages we have sent with our messengers.  Therefore, they will surely find out. [40:71]   The shackles will be around their necks, and the chains will be used to drag them. [40:72]   In the Inferno, then in the Fire, they will burn. [40:75]   This is because you used to rejoice in false doctrines on earth, and you used to promote them. [40:76]   Enter the gates of Gehenna, wherein you abide forever.  What a miserable destiny for the arrogant ones. [40:85]   Their belief then could not help them in the least, once they saw our retribution. Such is GOD's system that has been established to deal with His creatures; the disbelievers are always doomed.

Surah 41-   Detailed (Fussilat

[41:27]   We will certainly afflict these disbelievers with a severe retribution. We will certainly requite them for their evil works.

Surah 43. Ornaments (Al-Zukhruf)

[43:36]   Anyone who disregards the message of the Most Gracious, we appoint a devil to be his constant companion.

Surah 45-   Kneeling (Al-Jatheyah)

11.   This is a beacon, and those who disbelieve in these revelations of their Lord have incurred condemnation and a painful retribution.

Surah 46-   The Dunes (Al-Ahqaf)

20. The day will come when those who disbelieved will be introduced to the hellfire: "You have wasted the good chances given to you during your worldly life, and you rejoiced in them. Consequently, today you incur a shameful retribution as requital for the arrogance you committedfor your evil works."

34.   The day the disbelievers are introduced to the Hellfire, they will be asked, "Is this not the truth?" They will answer, "Yes indeed, by our Lord." He will say, "Then suffer the retribution for your disbelief."

Surah 47.Muhammad (Muhammad)

[47:4]   If you encounter (in war) those who disbelieve, you may strike the necks. If you take them as captives you may set them free or ransom them, until the war ends. Had GOD willed, He could have granted you victory, without war.  But He thus tests you by one another. As for those who get killed in the cause of GOD, He will never put their sacrifice to waste. [47:5]   He will guide them, and bless them with contentment. [47:6]   He will admit them into Paradise that He described to them. [47:34]   Those who disbelieve and repel from the path of GOD, then die as disbelievers, GOD will never forgive them.

Surah 48-   Victory (Al-Fatt-h)

[48:13]   Anyone who refuses to believe in GOD and His messenger, we have prepared for the disbelievers a hellfire. [48:16]   Say to the sedentary Arabs who stay behind, "You will be invited to face powerful people and to fight them, unless they submit. If you obey, GOD will reward you with a generous recompense. But if you turn away again, as you did in the past, He will requite you with a painful retribution." [48:22]   If the disbelievers ever fought you, they would turn around and flee. They have no Lord and Master; they have no helper. [48:28]   He is the One who sent His messenger with the guidance and the religion of truth, to make it prevail over all other religions. GOD suffices as a witness

Surah 50-   Q. (Qaf)

[50:24]   Throw into Gehenna every stubborn disbeliever.

Surah 51-   Drivers of the Wind (Al-Dhareyat)

[51:13]   The day they are presented to the fire.[51:14]   Taste the retribution; this is what you used to challenge.

Surah 52. Mount Sina Al-Toor)

[52:9]   The day will come when the sky will violently thunder. [52:10]   The mountains will be wiped out. [52:11]   Woe on that day to the disbelievers -[52:12]   who are in their blundering, heedless. [52:13]   They will be herded into Gehenna, forcibly. [52:14]   This is the Fire in which you used to disbelieve. [52:15]   Is this magic, or do you not see? [52:16]   Suffer the burning. Whether you are patient or impatient, it will be the same for you. This is the just requital for what you did.

Surah 56. The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)

[56:49]   Say, "The early generations and the later generations. [56:50]   "Will be summoned to a meeting on a predetermined day. [56:51] "Then you, O disbelieving strayers. [56:52]   "Will eat from the trees of bitterness. [56:53] "Filling your bellies therefrom. [56:54]   "Then drinking on top of it hellish drinks. [56:55]   "Then adding drinks of sand." [56:56]  Such is their share on the Day of Judgment. [56:57]   We have created you, if you could only believe! [56:58]   Have you noted the semen that you produce? [56:59]   Did you create it, or did we? [56:60]   We have predetermined death for you. Nothing can stop us [56:61]   from substituting new generations in your place, and establishing what you do not know. [56:92]   But if he is one of the disbelievers, the strayers - [56:93]   then an abode of inferno [56:94]   and burning in Hell.

Surah 57.Iron (Al-Hadeed)

[61:9]   He has sent His messenger with the guidance and the true religion, and will make it dominate all religions, in spite of the idol worshipers. [61:10]   O you who believe, let Me inform you of a trade that will save you from painful retribution. [61:11]   Believe in GOD and His messenger and strive in the cause of GOD with your money and your lives. This is the best deal for you, if you only knew. [61:12]   In return, He forgives your sins, and admits you into gardens with flowing streams, with beautiful mansions in the gardens of Eden. This is the greatest triumph. [61:13]   Additionally, you get something you truly love: support from GOD and guaranteed victory. Give good news to the believers.

Surah 64.Mutual Blaming (Al-Taghaabun)

[64:10]   As for those who disbelieve and reject our revelations, they are the dwellers of the Hellfire; they abide therein forever. What a miserable destiny!

Surah66-Prohibition(Al-Tahreem

Surah67.Kingship   (Al-Mulk)

[67:6]For those who disbelieved in their Lord, the retribution of Gehenna. What a miserable destiny. [67:7]  When they get thrown therein, they hear its furor as it fumes. [67:8] It almost explodes from rage.

.                                                                                                                                                                                             Surah70-The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)

[70:1]   A questioner may question the inevitable retribution. [70:2]  For the disbelievers, none can stop it. ]

Surah71. Noah (Noah)

[71:26]   Noah also said, "My Lord, do not leave a single disbeliever on earth. [71:27]   "For if you let them, they will only mislead your servants and give birth to nothing but wicked disbelievers. [71:28]   "My Lord, forgive me and my parents, and anyone who enters my home as a believer, and all the believing men and women. But do not give the disbelievers anything but annihilation."

Surah72  Jinns (Al-Jinn)

[72:15]   As for the compromisers, they will be fuel for Gehenna. [72:17]   We will surely test them all. As for him who disregards the message of his Lord, He will direct him to ever increasing retribution.                                                                                           [72:23]   "I deliver GOD's proclamations and messages." Those who disobey GOD and His messenger incur the fire of Hell, wherein they abide forever.

We have severe punishments, and Hell. 13 Food that can hardly be swallowed, and painful retribution. 14. The day will come when the earth and the mountains will quake, and the mountains will turn into a weightless pile. 15.  We have sent to you a messenger, just as we sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 16.  Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger and, consequently, we punished him severely. 17.  If you disbelieve, how can you evade a day so terrible that it makes the infants gray-haired.

Surah76. Human (Al-Insaan)

37.   Each one of them, on that day, worries about his own destiny. 38.   Some faces on that day will be happy. 39.   Laughing and joyful. 40.   Other faces, on that day, will be covered with misery. 41.   Overwhelmed by remorse. 42.  These are the wicked disbelievers.

Surah83-TheCheaters(Al-Mutaffifeen)

[83:10]   Woe on that day to the rejecters. [83:11]   They do not believe in the Day of Judgment. [83:12]   None disbelieves therein except the transgressor, the sinful. [83:13]   When our revelations are recited to him, he says, "Tales from the past!" [83:14]   Indeed, their hearts have become shielded by their sins. [83:15]   Indeed, they will be isolated, on that day, from their Lord. [83:16]   Then they will be thrown into Hell.

Surah88.Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)

[96:16]   A forelock that is disbelieving and sinful. [96:17]   let him then call on his helpers. [96:18]   We will call the guardians of Hell.

They are the worst creatures.

Conclusion

Jiddu Krishnamurty's core teachings states "Man has built in himself images as a fence of security-religious, political, personal. These manifest as symbols, ideas, beliefs. The burden of these images dominates man's thinking, his relationships, and his daily life. These images are the causes of our problems for they divide man from man. His perception of life is shaped by the concepts already established in his mind. The content of his consciousness is his entire existence. The individuality is the name, the form and superficial culture he acquires from tradition and environment. The uniqueness of man does not lie in the superficial but in complete freedom from the content of his consciousness, which is common to all humanity". The time has come for our Muslim brothers to attain this complete freedom. A beginning can be, and should be, made by deleting the obsolete and violent verses from the Koran. This will also gradually diminish violent deaths, inspired by the hatred of non-believers, all over the world.

DOCTOR HEDGEWAR AND WEANING MUSLIM YOUTH TOWARDS PEACE AND HINDUSM

His Life

Dr Hedgewar, the founder of the RSS was born on Ugadi day [New Year's Day] in 1889 at Nagpur. He was a born patriot. Even when he was studying in primary school, he refused to eat sweets distributed on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the coronation of Queen Victoria on June 22, 1897. When he was studying in Neel City High School, Nagpur, he was rusticated for singing "Vande Mataram" in violation of the circular issued by the then British government.  He participated in the freedom struggle under the leadership of the Indian National Congress and participated in the Non-cooperation Movement of 1921 and was jailed. He was released on July 12, 1922. After making an in-depth study of our history, he came to the conclusion that lack of patriotism and disunity among the Hindus was the reason for our defeat at the hands of foreign invaders and enslavement under foreign rule. He, therefore, felt that unless a sense of patriotism, selflessness, sterling character, national consciousness and sense of unity, selfless service, self-realization and discipline were inculcated in a substantial number of individuals, it would be impossible to uplift the nation and secure political freedom.

He figured that lack of patriotism and disunity among the Hindus was the reason for our defeat at the hands of foreign invaders and India's enslavement under foreign rule and decided to start a unique organization to solve the problems. He took a vow to remain a bachelor and devote his entire life and energy to the aforesaid noble cause. For this purpose, he founded the "Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh" on Vijayadashami day September 27, 1925. He selected a group of young boys who would assemble in an open field every day for one hour. During that time, in addition to playing national games, he began to inculcate in them a sense of patriotism, unity, discipline, love for the country and selflessness, by singing of patriotic songs and narration of stories of patriots. He appealed to the youth to spare one hour a day for the Nation by attending the Shakha (the meeting). He visualized that the one hour programme in the Shakha would ultimately transform the youth to devote greater time and energy in the service of the nation.

He declared that irrespective of castes, religions and languages, etc, we are all children of Bharatmata who shall be the common deity to be worshipped by all of us and the common ideal of all shall be to strive for all-round progress and development of the nation and for taking the nation to the pinnacle of glory. These two ideals were incorporated in the common prayer to be sung by all the members at the Shakha every day. The first line of the prarthana says "Namaste Sada Vatsale Matrubhume". Oh my beloved motherland salutation to thee and the last line of the prayer says "Oh God, please give us strength and bless us to enable us to take our nation to the pinnacle of glory" (param vaibhavamnetu metat swarasthram) and concludes with the all unifying slogan "Bharat Mata ki jai" (Victory to Bharat Mata).

Dr Hedgewar said that one hour Shakha was to initiate Swayamsevaks to inspire them to dedicate themselves to the noble and onerous task of nation building. But moulding of character of swayamsevaks was a whole time job after shakha hours to be performed by the Karyakartas of the RSS. He advised and encouraged swayamsevaks to undertake higher education and for that purpose to go to different places in the country. He said higher educational attainment by Karyakartas would confer better suitability and capacities to spread the work of the RSS and going to different places was necessary to spread the work of RSS throughout the country.

In 1934 at Wardha, Gandhiji had the following conversation with Dr. K. B. Hedgewar, the founder of the R.S.S.:
Gandhiji: Doctor Sahib, what made you start an independent organization like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh? You were in Congress and surely you could have built up such a voluntary body in the Congress itself. By the way, did you feel dearth of funds in the Congress?
Hedgewar: Oh, no, not at all. Fact is that creation of the kind of Swayamsevaks I had in mind was simply not possible through the Congress.
Gandhiji: Why so?
Hedgewar: Because, the Congress, after all, is a political party and its volunteers are just boys of errands, arranging chairs and tables, saluting and cheering the leaders, looking to their arrangements and such other sundry jobs, whereas my concept of a Swayamsevak is altogether different.
Gandhiji: What is your concept, Doctor Sahib?
Hedgewar: One who offers himself, voluntarily in the cause of national upliftment in a spirit of total selflessness - such a person alone is a Swayamsevak. I also believe that, it is only on the strength of such Swayamsevaks, that our nation can ultimately rise to its full glory.

Second Blow of Islam to India                                                                                       Khilafat Movement (1919), a protest by Indian Muslims against Turkey’s abolition of the Caliph, religious leader of the Arab world, was the first step towards the second blow of Islam to India - India’s Partition. Gandhi spearheaded this movement. Dr Ambedkar says that this movement achieved: “First, Muslim fanaticism secured a position of prestige in Indian politics; thereafter their religious loyalty took precedence over national loyalty. Two, the Muslim population hitherto divided among various groups and political pulls now became a solid force. Three, a new fanatic leadership riding on the crest of the Khilafat wave came to wield the reigns of the Muslim leadership.”

Liaqat Ali, who, during the election campaign in 1946, boasted in Delhi. The Muslim is a born fighter. He may hesitate to cast a vote for Pakistan, but he would not hesitate to shed his blood. Hassan Shahid Suhrawardy was political disciple of Jinnah. He is notoriously known in history as the great killer of Hindus in the Calcutta massacre. While addressing the Muslim League Legislators Convention held in Delhi on April 9, 1946, Suhrawardy declared like Hitler that Pakistan was the Muslims latest, but not the last demand. Feroz Khan Noon, a fanatic leader of the Muslim League, while addressing the Muslim League legislators meeting, said: The havoc that the Muslims would play, would put to shame what Changez Khan and Halaku did. Ghaznafar Ali Khan, who was the health minister in the Viceroys Interim Government, headed by Pandit Nehru, spoke at Lahore: If Mohammed-Bin-Kasim and Mahmood Ghaznavi could invade India with armies composed of a few thousands, and yet were able to overpower lakhs of Hindus, God willing a few lakhs of Muslims will yet overwhelm crores of Hindus. It was he, who openly advised Hindus to embrace Islam to save themselves from the holocaust.

There is no need to go on with narrations of Islam’s blow to India. A recent comment on Islam by an ex-Muslim, Dr Ali Sina, sums Muslim atrocities in these words: Islam is an epidemic of mental illness bequeathed from one man to his followers”. The mental sickness of Muhammad implanted to his followers has cost hundreds of million lives, “The wounds caused by Muhammad and his benighted followers have been bleeding for 1400 years. They are still bleeding and will continue to bleed endlessly, until Islam is eradicated.

Inviting Muslims to leave Islam

Wafa Sultan is a Syrian-born psychiatrist who immigrated to the U.S. in 1989. She is most well-known for appearing on Al-Jazeera in 2006 in a debate with Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Khouli, when she delivered a memorable attack on Islam (which has since caused her to live in hiding). She just released a new book, entitled A God Who Hates. In her view, the Muslim world needs reform in three areas: Muslim nations must 1) grant their citizens the right to practice any—or no—faith; 2) they must reform school curricula, which currently teach intolerance and hatred for non-Muslims; 3) they must grant equal rights to women and eliminate the oppression Muslim women currently experience. Because all the three areas emanate from Koran, Wafa Sultan should be asking Muslims to leave Islam.

Pakistani author Bakhshish Yousaf Chaudhry recently wrote in Dawn: Education being imparted in madressahs (seminaries) is subordinated to an ideology and therefore does not inculcate quest for knowledge among students there. Apart from inculcation of a dispassionate quest for truth in them the seminaries fail to enable students to take some socially useful profession in life. They are taught that only their creed is based on truth and that other faiths and creeds are incarnation of evil. A start, then, can be made in all the schools and seminaries of India by replacing Koranic verses with the teaching of non-violent and all-embracing Hindu Philosophy. This point is reinforced by what Nasir Abbas Mirza  of Pakistan recently wrote: remote madrassas may be turning boys into drones but then there are thousands of madrassas spread all over Pakistan’s urban centres that are producing millions of neo-drones who may not become suicide bombers but are totally unfit to live in this world. These kids need to be rescued. And they should be rescued by giving them secular and Hindu philosophical education.

Another Pakistani reporter says: The proliferation of madressahs in Pakistan is another cause for radicalization that has been repeatedly identified. From a few hundred when Zia seized power in 1977 to the current estimate of some 25,000, these religious seminaries are seen as the spawning ground for the foot soldiers of jihad. Here, thousands of young children are taught little but rote learning of the scriptures. Maulvis unqualified to teach have assumed the responsibility of indoctrinating young minds. India must learn and remove all Maulvis from madressahs and replace them by qualified teachers who can teach essence of all religions. Sermons of these maulvis to young Muslims are single biggest threat to India.

A highly influential Shi'a religious leader, with whom Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad regularly consults, apparently told followers that coercion by means of rape, torture and drugs is acceptable against all opponents of the Islamic regime. "Can an interrogator rape the prisoner in order to obtain a confession?" was the question posed to the Islamic cleric. Mesbah-Yazdi answered: "The necessary precaution is for the interrogator to perform a ritual washing first and say prayers while raping the prisoner. If the prisoner is female, it is permissible to rape through the vagina or anus. It is better not to have a witness present. If it is a male prisoner, then it's acceptable for someone else to watch while the rape is committed."...A related issue, in the eyes of the questioners, was the rape of virgin female prisoners. In this instance, Mesbah-Yazdi went beyond the permissibility issue and described the Allah-sanctioned rewards accorded the rapist-in-the-name-of-Islam:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          "If the judgment for the [female] prisoner is execution, then rape before execution brings the interrogator a spiritual reward equivalent to making the mandated Haj pilgrimage [to Mecca], but if there is no execution decreed, then the reward would be equivalent to making a pilgrimage to [the Shi'ite holy city of] Karbala." No wonder intelligent women like Maryam Namazie of Iran has left Islam and founded a movement that is secular and against Sharia law. Information centres can be set up in India to popularize speeches of Maryam Namazie to wean away young women from Islam.

Prominent Islamists like cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi speak of conquering America and Europe via proselytizing, conversion, immigration, and ultimately the ballot box. Without doubt similar must be the hidden aims of ISI and Bangladeshi fundamentalists regarding India. India must become aware of this stealth Jihad and begin a mass movement to bring the infiltrated Bangladeshis to Hinduism if they do not leave the Country. Bajrang Dal can be nucleus of such a movement.

In June 2009, the Pakistani government announced the formation of a seven-member Sufi Advisory Council (SAC), which will aim to counter extremism by spreading Sufism instead. Apparently, the Council has not made any headway. But such a Council can be more successful in India where more Muslims have learnt to be moderate working side by side the Hindu majority. Certainly, in public sphere Sufism is the only branch of Islam that should be given any exposure.

Earlier in the year Taliban gave Sikhs and Hindus an ultimatum — leave the land of your forefathers or pay an Islamic tax in protection money. Bajrang Dal should commence giving notices to Muslims to at least begin learning Hinduism.

To modern Muslim thinkers like Professor Ziauddin Sardar, Iranian woman activist and art historian, Dr Faegheh Shirazi and a renowned Algerian scholar, Muhammad Arkoun, much of the Quran must be understood allegorically. This means its message is largely in the abstract domain that when comprehended and related in a literal manner may lead to misinterpretation.

Sixty-two years ago Pakistan was created because the Muslims of the subcontinent were not confident that India’s Hindu community would allow them to live in peace with full honour and dignity. Sixty-two years later, it is the Muslim community that is demonstrating that it cannot live peacefully with the adherents of other religions. Pakistan is rewriting history. From a parochial view of the subcontinent's past, it is shifting towards a more inclusive reading from an exclusive focus on Islam; college history books have come to include Buddhism and Hinduism. Once barred from textbooks, Mohenjodaro and Harappa now appear in them telling students how a large part of Pakistan formed the bedrock of the Indus Valley civilization. Moreover, once unthinkable, the work of Indian historians is at present part of the curriculum, says Tahir Kamran, chairman, department of history, Government College University, Lahore. Then, why can’t Buddhsm and Hinduism included in the curriculum of madrassas in India?

. Based in London, Quilliam claims to be the first counter-terrorism think tank in the world. It was started by two young Muslims, Ed Hussain and Maajid Nawaz, who were formerly part of the Islamist organization Hizbut Tahrir (HT). They are now dedicated to weaning Muslim youth away from global jihad and towards peace. Quillam cells should be established extensively in India in Muslim areas to wean the youth there towards peace.

Article 44 of the Indian Constitution envisages, "The State shall endeavour to secure for the citizens a uniform civil code throughout the territory of India". Even the Supreme Court has held: "Where more than 80% of the citizens have been brought under codified personal law, there is no justification whatsoever to keep in abeyance, any more, the introduction of the UCC for all citizens in India". It is high time the UCC was introduced to end exclusiveness of Muslims.

Professor of law James Lorimer (1818-90) succinctly stated the Islamic problem over a century ago: So long as Islam endures, the reconciliation of its adherents, even with Jews and Christians, and still more with the rest of mankind, must continue to be an insoluble problem. … For an indefinite future, however reluctantly, we must confine our political recognition to the professors of those religions which … preach the doctrine of "live and let live. In other words, political recognition — with all the attendant negotiations and diplomacy that come with it — should be granted to all major religions/civilizations except Islam, which does not recognize the notion of "live and let live," as evinced by, among other stipulations, the Koran's commands to its adherents to "enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong," (e.g., Koran 3:110), that is, enforce Sharia law upon the earth.

Professor Lorimer’s perception of Islam is confirmed by Osama Bin Laden: Yes. There are only three choices in Islam: [1] either willing submission [conversion]; [2] or payment of the jaziya, through physical, though not spiritual, submission to the authority of Islam; [3] or the sword — for it is not right to let him [an infidel] live. The matter is summed up for every person alive: Either submit, or live under the suzerainty of Islam, or die. This threefold choice, then — conversion, subjugation, or the sword — is the ultimate source of problems. Shouldn’t we head the advice of the good Professor and derecognize Islam as a civilized religion?

Conclusion

Doctor Keshav Hedgewar took the first big step of saving Bharat Mata by founding RSS. But the cancer of Islam has greatly increased its tentacles in the sub-continent during the 84 years that the RSS has functioned. It is apparent that if the truncated India is to be saved the RSS has to spearhead actions in the following areas:

1.      Madrassehs in India should stop teaching violent verses of Koran and replace them with Buddhist and Hindu teachings. Only Sufi teachings from Islam should be among the subjects taught.

2.       Sermons of Maulanas in mosques and schools should be banned.

3.       Organizations like Quillam should be encouraged to open branches in all Muslim areas to wean Muslim youth away from militant Islam...

4.       Article 44 of the Constitution for the Uniform Civil code should be introduced to ensure no part of Sharia is practiced in India.

5.       Muslim youth should be invited to the RSS shakhas and then encouraged to leave Islam.

6.       Bajrang Dal should be allocated more resources to reconvert Muslims to Hinduism.
